In this lesson you'll learn Chinese words crucial when taking a taxi ride in China. You will also learn Mandarin Chinese sentences to request the cab driver to take you to your accommodation. You'll also get an opportunity to learn Chinese pronouns that you haven't yet encountered. Dani also teaches you other convenient verbs such as to go and to arrive.
Most Chinese cab drivers do not understand much English, if any at all! The best method is to print out or ask somebody to write down the name of your hotel or whatever place you wish to go. It's recommended to get in the practice of collecting a hotel business card from the hotel reception before you leave. You can easily present this to any cab driver to get back to your hotel without difficulty!
Many hotels in China now have their own 'taxi card' and may give you one on check-in. It will have the hotel's name and address written in Chinese characters, along with the names and addresses of all the main attractions in the city. Keep an eye out for one of these, as it will ensure all your taxi rides go smoothly.
