These exercises give you the chance to practice the numbers previously learned and the learn Mandarin numbers from one to ten in their entirety. Learning Chinese numbers will also give you the ability to tell the time of day, and make plans to meet a friend at any agreed time. Upon learning Mandarin Chinese numbers up to ten, you will find it easier to get your point across in more situations while in China.
The Chinese characters for numbers have largely been replaced by Arabic (i.e. Western) numerals in modern China. The Chinese characters are still used in sentences and in more traditional and ceremonial situations. The Chinese also have a well developed system of hand gestures to quickly indicate a number in situations such as a noisy market.
