To type a special pinyin letter, simply type the vowel followed by the number of the tone.
For example, typing 'a1' will convert to 'ā' when typed.
Here you'll learn how to introduce yourself to a colleague in Mandarin Chinese. You may need to mention which department you work in, or what project you are working on. Chinese colleagues may be eager to hear about your background, and may wish to exchange business cards.
When meeting colleagues and business people in China, a lighter and shorter handshake is the best approach. When meeting people for the first time, it's better to address them formally, such as Mr Wang or Miss Wang. Too much eye contact is considered impolite in Chinese culture. Speaking about strict deadlines may be considering insulting, this relates to the culture of 'saving face' in China. Criticisms are not easily accepted, especially if made in public.
